about Bryophytes and Lichens

Bryophytes

Introduction to Bryophytes Workshop
UC Berkeley Jepson Herbarium
February 25-26, 2012

This special two-day workshop will offer an introduction to mosses, liverworts, and hornworts. More information can be found here.

SO BE FREE 17
Inner North Coast Range, near Cobb, California
March 27-30, 2012

The 2012 SO BE FREE foray will be held in the Cobb Mt. area near Clear Lake (possibly North America's oldest lake) in Lake County, California. The area offers great sites for montane coniferous forest, oak woodland, and chaparral with rocky outcrops of varied geology and wetland habitats as well. Bryophyte diversity will span a range from California's spring ephemerals to epiphytes to the aquatic species of lakes and streams. The early-spring wildflowers should be great too. More information can be downloaded here.

The New York Botanical Garden
Wednesday-Friday, June 20-22, 2012

After the success of the first two symposia on the molecular systematics of bryophytes, in St. Louis and Gottingen, a third bryology meeting is being organized in New York. Please save the dates. MOSS 2012 will be held at the New York Botanical Garden on June 16 - 18, followed by the third Molecular Systematics of Bryophytes meeting on June 20 - 22. Preliminary information about the meeting can be found here.
